Late Fall and Winter Business Hours And Upcoming Holiday Observance Notice

GSOC Late Fall and Winter Business Hours:
From November 1 to March 31, Gopher State One Call business hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Emergency calls are exempt from business hours and are always accepted. Please remember that all non-emergency locate requests can be submitted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online—but are processed during GSOC’s business hours.

Veterans Day Holiday – Plan Ahead
On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, Gopher State One Call will observe Veterans Day. Keep in mind that this day will not count toward the standard 48-hour notice needed when filing a locate request. Please also remember that only emergency locate request calls will be accepted through the call center this day. All non-emergency locate requests can still be submitted online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Plan ahead and submit your locate requests early to account for the holiday. Gopher State One Call would like to thank all of the men and women who have served and currently serve our country.

New Start Time Policy

IMPORTANT PROCESS CHANGE for Excavators and Facility Operators to the designation of start date and time on web-submitted e-tickets:

Web-submitted notifications of intent to excavate are generally reviewed by Gopher State One Call (GSOC) for quality assurance prior to acceptance of the notification by the notification center, with three exceptions:

  1. Reprocess tickets (updates, minor modifications and cancellations)
  2. Emergency tickets submitted online by a ticket submitter authorized to do so
  3. Other notifications of intent to excavate submitted online by a ticket submitter passing rigorous training criteria established by the notification center.

Beginning December 1, 2020, web-submitted notifications of intent to excavate will be assigned a work start date and time that is either a) requested by the excavator, or b) assigned by the notification center to comply with the legal minimum required notice when measured from the time of acceptance of the notification after any review by the notification center has been completed.

Labor Day closure - Monday, September 7th

GSOC LaborDay 2020

We will be taking calls for emergency locates only on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day, but remember, you can file a ticket online 24/7. NOTE: Monday will not count towards your standard 48 hour notice when filing a locate, so please plan accordingly.

White Markings: Gopher State One Call would like to remind all excavators to mark the excavation area in white prior to submitting the locate request. White marks increase the efficiency of locators by clearly showing where they need to mark. The use of white marks helps your excavation go more smoothly as well as providing more time for locators to mark for other excavations. Thank you!

Locator Language: Decoding Utility Markings

Keeping track of what’s exactly buried underground on a worksite can be a challenge, which is why utility locators follow the uniform color codes mandated by the American Public Works Association (APWA) for temporarily marking their facilities.
